born around 1490 in the Reynolds family of Pinhoe, in the county of Devon (England). It was outstanding student of Christ College (Cambridge) and a member of Corpus Christi College, graduated as Bachelor of Theology. In 1513 he professed in the monastery of Syon, of the Order of the Holy Savior.

eminent connoisseur of Hebrew and Greek, his fame as a scholar in Sacred Scripture, its orthodoxy and sanctity of life won him consideration as one of the best theologians of his time in England, being weighted by the same St. Thomas More, chancellor of the kingdom and martyr him shortly after.

To defend the primacy of Peter, and object to the law of Supremacy of Henry VIII was brutally martyred at Tyburn (London) with three Carthusian monks and secular priest Alejandro Hales on May 4, 1535. Canonized October 25, 1970 by Paul VI, along with other
39 martyrs of England and Wales
set his feast day on 4 May.
